Lament
I stood on the edge. The cliff dropped off below me, two thousand feet straight down, all I had to do was step forward.
Clouds blew past me, lending their coolness to the air. I took a deep breath, taisting the freshness of the wind. It was so quiet, quiet and peaceful. I had so little peace in my life. The wind blew my hair back from my face. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back. Why couldn’t it always be like this?
Thoughts danced through my head, no matter how much I tried to quiet them. They spoke of despair and hopelessness. I forced the thoughts from my mind. I came here to relax, not to wallow in my anguish.
